Rules of the competition
The competition
The GMC is inviting children and young people from across the UK to make a creative statement for respecting children and young people by entering its "Children's Guidance" Poster Competition.
A jury panel will select the best designs. Contributions will be judged according to their creativity and originality of expression, clarity of presentation, as well as universal appeal.
Who may enter?
- This competition is open to UK residents only. Overseas entries will not be considered.
- Entry is open to any individual with an age limit up to and including 17 years of age as at 2 March 2007.
- Entry opens 15 January 2007 and closes 2 March 2007.

Winning entries
- There will be four regional winners, one from each of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England. Each of the regional winners will win an IPod Nano.
- The regional winners will then be judged to find a final winning design
- The overall winning design will be featured on the new GMC Children's guidance, which is used by the medical profession. It will also be displayed on the GMC website and used on related Children's guidance material.
Poster requirements
- Posters entered for the competition must be no larger than A4 - 210 x 297mm and designed in portrait .
- Any medium can be used to produce the poster e.g. paint, crayon, collage, electronic design, photography etc. All entries must be provided in hard copy.
- Only one poster can be submitted per person
- Each poster must be clearly marked on the back with the name and age of the entrant, and the full address and telephone number.
It is vital that this information is printed clearly as it is used to contact the winners
Competition Rules
- Proof of posting does not constitute proof of receipt.
- Judging will take place during March 2007 and all winners will be notified by 15 April 2007. The judges will look for a mix of creativity and artistic skill.
- The judges' decision is final and no correspondence can be entered into.
- All entries must be sent to the GMC to arrive no later than 2 March 2007, and preferably posted in a roll or flat pack to avoid damage.
- No copyrighted material may be used for the design.
- No original photo material may be used for the poster design without the written consent of the parties depicted.
- The GMC regrets that entries cannot be returned.
- The GMC does not accept any responsibility for late or lost entries.
- The GMC will only ever use your personal details for the purposes of administering this competition, and will not publish them or provide them to anyone without your permission.
- Entrants must comply with all rules to be eligible for the prize(s). No responsibility is accepted for ineligible entries or entries made fraudulently.
- Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and to agree to be bound by them when entering this competition.
- The GMC reserves the right to not use any of the submitted designs if they are deemed inappropriate by the Standards Committee.
In consideration of the prize from the poster competition and as a condition precedent of entry all rights and interests to all of the intellectual property rights created or developed in or from the poster provided by the entrant to GMC will be transferred and assigned to the GMC. The name of the winning designer will appear in the children's guidance booklet.
