GMC seeks new Council members

The GMC is looking to appoint members to its Council. The deadline for applications is 31 August 2012.

The Council is the governing body of the GMC and is responsible for the overall control of the organisation. Opportunities exist for 12 members to join the Council, 6 medical and 6 lay, one of whom will be appointed to be the Chair (this role has already been advertised separately).

Applicants for the member roles will be able to demonstrate their ability to contribute to the Council’s three core functions of setting strategy, holding the executive to account and taking high-level policy decisions.

We are seeking candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds who can demonstrate strategic leadership and vision, sound judgement and strong communication and analytical skills. These are important roles that offer the opportunity to contribute to patient safety in the UK.
