Black and Minority Ethnic Doctors Forum
The purpose of the BME Doctors Forum is to raise issues of interest to its members with the GMC. It also acts as a sounding board to help the GMC to understand the issues that affect BME doctors and IMGs, and in so doing, helps to shape the development of the GMC’s plans and activities.
The Forum is chaired by two GMC Council members, Professors Iqbal Singh and Rajan Madhok.
Membership of the Forum is open to the main networks of BME doctors and IMGs in the UK, as well as individuals. The Forum makes an important contribution to the development and implementation of the GMC’s core activities in the following ways:
- Providing feedback on the GMC’s consultations;
- Providing advice on the issues that impact on BME doctors and IMGs as a result of the GMC’s activities, for example, its FTP procedures, and the introduction of revalidation;
- Cascading key messages and information about GMC developments to their networks;
- Raising issues with the GMC on behalf of the members of the networks and individual doctors represented on the Forum.
The following organisations are represented on the Forum:
- All British Pakistani Physicians Association
